MaxFactor Kohl Pencil : 060 Ice Blue Review, Swatches

February 14, 2011

The Maxfactor kohl pencil is my first colored eyepencil. I had seen a girl wearing a light blue colored pencil on her waterline and had totally loved it so I went hunting for that kind of a blue shade. Though many brands had different shades of blue but none were the kind I was looking for. Some were too jhataak for my liking and most of the SAs showed me dark blue eye pencils when I asked for blue. My search finally ended with MaxFactor.

The MaxFactor Kohl pencil is dark blue in color with the shade name mentioned on the pencil and the tip of the pencil in the color of the shade.

The shade I got is 060 Ice Blue, which is a sky blue kind of a color. This shade just has some sheen to it, not glitter or shimmer.

This pencil is not as creamy as the latest ones to hit the market like Colorbar I-Glide, Lakme, Revlon Colorstay etc, neither is it hard like Colorbar I-Define. The texture is somewhere in between and I like it that way since one needs to be bit careful with super creamy pencils.

Price : Rs. 200 (not too sure since I got this quite some time back). Weight is not mentioned but should be around 1-1.2 gms.

What I like about MaxFactor Kohl Pencil :

  • It is neither very creamy nor very hard. The texture is somewhere in between. Its soft enough to not not tug or hurt the eyes at all.
  • Since the pencil is not extremely creamy, sharpening it is not a problem. The tip does not tend to break like some creamy pencils.
  • The staying power is pretty good. Around 5-6 hours after which it starts fading a bit.
  • Once set, it does not smudge much unless you really rub your eyes hard.
  • Totally safe to be used on the waterline as its a kohl pencil. I’ve used this more on the waterline than the upper lashline and this does not sting my eyes at all.
  • I love the shade I have – Ice Blue. It looks so gr8 on the waterline alongwith Kajal and equally nice on the upper lashline too.
  • The pigmentation is quite good. 2 Strokes are good enough for the color to show properly.
  • The tip of the pencil is of the color of the shade you own, hence easy to spot in a bunch.

What I dont like about MaxFactor Kohl Pencil :

  • Ingredients are not mentioned.
  • Some other details like weight etc is also missing. Though not sure if this has been taken care of lately.

Other than these no major complains from this kohl pencil. I am so much liking this one, that I definately want to try the black pencil now.

Have you tried Maxfactor Kohl Pencil ?
