Himalaya Gentle Exfoliating Daily Face Wash Review

December 9, 2010
I have tried 2 facewashes from Himalaya – Gentle Exfoliating and Hydrating Facewash Cream and have totally different experiences with both…while I absolutely love this one, I am just waiting to finish the other one and get done with it…not that I hate it…but I am not really loving it either. Noww..lets get back to the main topic..the Gentle Exfoliating Daily Facewash..
The facewash comes in a transparent tube with the standard Himalaya packaging of green cover.
What it claims : A soap-free, daily-use, herbal formulation which combines gentle exfoliation, deep cleansing and moisturizing.
Apricot granules gently scrub off dead skin cells and help prevent the formation of balckheads.
Neem and Lemon cleanse deeply and remove excess oil.
Aloe Vera soothes your skin and maintains its natural moisture balance.
Use regularly for clean, fresh, rejuvenated and glowing skin.
Active Ingredients :
The facewash itself is almost transparent in color with small and medium sized white, brown and red granules.

The granules are quite soft..not like the harsh ones which come in scrubs. I like using facewashes which have granules and they give me a very nice feel against the skin when I wash my face.

 Price : Rs. 99 for 100 ml ; Rs. 55 for 50 ml
What I like about Himalaya Gentle Exfoliating Daily Facewash :
I completely love this facewash. I am already on my 3rd tube. I get pretty bored of my facewashes and I can never use just 1 facewash all the time. I like some variety so I generally use 2-3 facewashes and this one is always one of them.
  • It gives a squeaky clean feeling after use.
  • The granules are pretty soft and not at all harsh for the skin. They are soft enough for daily use.
  • It does not leave the skin dry. It is not ultra moisturizing but does not dry out the skin completely too.
  • Due to the gentle exfoliation, your skin feels really soft after using this.
  • You need very less amount for the whole face.
  • This facewash gives me a very fresh after use.
  • The fragrance is quite pleasant.
  • The ingredient list is quite impressive 🙂
  • Decently priced
What I dont like about Himalaya Gentle Exfoliating Daily Facewash :

This is not really my HG facewash but I do like it alot and cant really think of anything that I dislike. I like facewashes with fruity flavours (no doubt that Lakme Strawberry facewash was a fav too & I am liking the fruit blast range as well) so maybe if this one also came in fruity flavours I might like it more 😛

How has your experience been with Himalaya Facewashes ?

I love this facewash! Even I am on my 2nd tube, and I like the fact that the granules in this facewash are not abrasive. They are quite spongy and exfoliate without any harshness 🙂

You too Tanveer!! You know some months back, my tube was abt to get over and I could find this facewash was out of stock and I was feeling so sad thinking maybe its discontinued 🙂 The granules are so much fun to use..

HD, I haven't tried anything from Himalaya, are there any face packs from himalaya which moisturise well without stripping the moisture?

  8. December 9, 2010 11:56 am

Hey Uzma..Himalaya does have facepacks…what is your skin type? I have personally used the fruit face pack which was nothing gr8..but their neem pack which is meant for oily skin is supposed to be good..

  9. December 9, 2010 12:12 pm

have not seen this one and have not used this. seems like a good product.thanks for the review

  10. December 9, 2010 12:20 pm

  12. December 9, 2010 5:48 pm

hmmmmmm…hmmmmmm…thanks dear 🙂 Which one from lotus u using? I wouldnt say only okay…its pretty good actually..

  13. December 9, 2010 6:55 pm

hey cool … i love himalya and use oil balancing and neem face wash and always make it a point to use once daily .. i also keep 2 – 3 face washes and himalaya is a staple ….i will surely try this .. 🙂 perfect review honey 😀

  14. December 10, 2010 2:02 pm

yaa..Neem facewash works very well for oily skin..thanks for appreciating dear 🙂

  15. December 26, 2010 12:16 pm

I second your opinion 🙂 So you dint like the hydrating cream wash at all ? .. based on what you wrote in the initial part of the review.

  16. December 27, 2010 7:55 am

hey Princess..the hydrating cream wash didnt do anything gr8 for my skin…didnt enjoy using it 😦

  17. December 27, 2010 11:30 am

Ok, I wont be trying it too 🙂 Btw, i was thinking of trying that oil-balancing one with citron and honey. Hv u tried that ?

  18. December 27, 2010 12:21 pm

no princess…havnt tried that…that one is meant for oily skin n I have normal – dry skin so the oil-balancing one will actually make my skin more dry

  19. December 27, 2010 4:58 pm

Ok, actually even I have combination skin, normal to dry on face with just an oily T zone. So I was wondering if this oil-balancing one is good for me or not. Infact, i thot the same as you.. that it will remove more moisture… but its only cos of the T zone that i was wondering… the one u hv reviewed is grt and i know that cos i hv that already !

  20. December 28, 2010 5:20 am

its gr8 that this one works so well for you…you might want to try the neem facewash…heard it works very well for oily and combi skin type 🙂

  21. December 28, 2010 10:16 am

That neem one is actually for those who have a problem of acne… I jst have an oily T zone… not oily skin.. so I dont think that's one for me !

  22. December 28, 2010 6:15 pm

okiee…ya then the oil balancing one seems to be a good choice to go with 🙂

  23. December 28, 2010 6:29 pm

ya, I got it today. Lets see if thats better or the gentle exfoliating one !

  24. December 29, 2010 6:07 am

    cool…waiting for ur feedback 🙂

  25. December 29, 2010 11:24 am

U know wat, I used both ! and am confused now… but this is a nice type of confusion 😛 … cos both r so damn good 🙂 Its unbelievable that i find two products to be so similarly good. I think i shall use both separately, after a time gap to chk the individual effect, cos currently i used both of them one after the other and found both good.

  26. December 29, 2010 11:52 am

woow thats gr8!! its always a happy feeling to discover some products working so well for you…but maybe its too soon to judge the oil-balancing facewash since you've just got it…so ya it would be a good idea to use it continously for some days and then decide…and no harm in using both…I anyways get bored of using just 1 facewash 🙂

  27. December 29, 2010 12:56 pm

oh, i m the opposite. I dont get bored of using 1 facewash… i like finding 1 product and then sticking to it… 🙂 So, this confusion is a bit new to me… 😉

  28. December 30, 2010 5:58 am

hmm…I guess I am a bit weird that way…I do like sticking to facewashes I like but thn I can never use just 1 facewash continuosly..need variety 🙂

  29. December 30, 2010 11:40 am

Ok 🙂 Well, I tried them both separately… and frankly everyone said both look grt ! but on careful observation, I feel the oil-balancing one gives a good glow, but also makes my cheeks dry cos it removes all traces of oil completely… so since I hv combination skin, i guess the earlier one is better ! This one maybe good for the summers … 🙂 Writing the subtle difference i found here, so that others may benefit if they read it …

  30. December 30, 2010 12:04 pm

Thanks Princess for mentioning it here…It will def help many others 🙂 if the gentle exfoliating one is also working well then that will be a better choice since your cheeks will also feel happy thn 😀 BTW what do you do? I mean u a student or working?

  31. December 30, 2010 12:20 pm

U r welcome 🙂 I thot so hence wrote it here ! Ya, u r rite.. am gonna stick to that one now 🙂 And yes, I am a student … wat abt u ?

  32. December 30, 2010 1:21 pm

    nice…I am working..

  33. December 30, 2010 1:28 pm

Ok, btw, hv u tried Himalaya's fruit pack ? It looks so tempting whenever i go to the store… I feel like using it just for fun ! Is it any good ?

  34. December 30, 2010 1:33 pm

yeah..tried that n have reviewed it too…check it out if you have time….its nothing gr8..did nothing gr8 for my skin 😦

  35. December 30, 2010 4:06 pm

Ok, any good facepacks u recommend for my type of skin..?

  36. December 30, 2010 4:11 pm

Also, forgot to thank you for the advice abt the fruit pack… i wld end up wasting money on it.. thanks sweets ! 🙂

  37. December 30, 2010 9:11 pm

No problem..anytime dear 🙂 You can try the Coral Glow face pack from FabIndia…works quite well for me 🙂

  38. December 31, 2010 11:17 am

Ok.. will try it … thanks a lot !
